About

The Skaneateles Lake Milfoil Eradication Project (SLMEP) is an initiative of the Tri-County Skaneateles Lake Pure Water Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The project team manages all day-to-day aspects of the eradication operation and associated fundraising.

SLMEP partners with Syracuse University to hire the divers required for the eradication operation and to conduct research to increase the understanding of milfoil’s role in the aquatic ecosystem of Skaneateles Lake, under the supervision of Dr. Chris Scholz.

This project continues the work begun by the Town of Skaneateles Aquatic Invasive Species Committee (AIS), which was formed in 2006 to determine the scope of the problem, research possible responses, and recommend an appropriate course of action. We thank AIS for putting us on a path toward success.
